Word’s Like Love  - ListenHere

First the name, and then the look,

next the flowers, now the book.

Guess I’m strange, perhaps the fool,

maybe just a stubborn mule,

but I recall another day

when all our words were mixed with play,

so close together, so much to lose,

so carefully the words we’d choose,

we’d say “in like” and save the love

for when we thought the gods above

would give this day some daily bread

a faith in us when we were fed

with words that live and grow and bind,

words that keep an open mind,

words like love and love-like words,

words that pray and must be heard.

Bended knees for broken hearts,

spoken words and visual arts,

visions lost and rediscovered,

tombs exhumed to be uncovered,

spirits rise and angels speak,

clouds that lift reveal a peak,

majesty in mountains view,

roses red say I love you.

So take these words and hold my hand,

then write them deep into the sand,

and know they cannot melt away

if words like love in two folks stay.

Words like love,

words like love.
