Rethinking the Power of Three
Is it really two plus a third?
Starting a dialogue.
A dialogue involves two plus the topic (question)
Watching the mother dove with her two newly hatched babies reminds me of the Socratic Dialogue; it seems to me the birds already no how to fly—the mother seems to teach them how to stretch in their nest, hold the food up high so they have to extend their neck to reach the mother’s beak. In doing so, they stretch their entire body to the point that they begin to discovery their balance and gravity and their wings as they flapping vigorously while still safe in the nest. The mother has been spending periods of time out of the next, still within her eyesight, but not visible by her young. They seem to be adjusting to the temperature without her. I think of Ruby Jeanne and our twins in their nests (from womb to room to backyard…). I think the “woods” were my sons’ sky. This is where they flew in the dirt and mud and fallen trees.
