There’s no telling what people will do next,

jumping off a bridge can get old.

Time’s been gagged and won’t breathe a word,

we’ve been assured,  

but there’s no telling.

One eyed Jack staring a hole right through your brain

says “Welcome to the family

of the socially insane,

we’re placing bets on your survival,

there’s no rival

and there’s no telling.

Sometimes the sun don’t rise up in the East.

sometimes the moon don’t go down

sometimes the nightmares never seem to cease

‘til the last ghost has slipped out of town.

It’s no wonder children wake up in their sleep,

trying to swim through bad dreams

drowning’ in the deep, so much killin’,

life ain’t worth a whisper past a dime, 

there’s no time, and there’s no telling.

Honesty got buried with the ax,

just another case of covering up the facts, 

can’t blame Washington for chopping down the tree,
